Physiotherapy focuses on treating pain, stiffness, weakness, and movement restrictions anywhere in the body. Our approach looks at how different areas work together, identifying not only where symptoms appear, but what’s contributing to them.

Treatment may include hands-on techniques such as joint mobilization and muscle or fascia release, combined with individualized exercise programs and optional modalities like acupuncture. A thorough, whole-body assessment is key to addressing the often complex nature of persistent pain and stiffness.

The goal of physiotherapy is not only to relieve your current symptoms, but to help prevent them from returning in the future.

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a combination of assessment and rehabilitation of the body. It is achieved through a comprehensive assessment of the musculoskeletal (muscles and joints), nervous, and circulatory systems. The information gathered in the assessment is used to create an individualized rehabilitation program for the individual. Manual therapy is the main focus of physiotherapy which includes massage, muscle release, fascia release, joint mobilizations, and other forms of hands on treatment. A customized exercise program is also created focused on posture, alignment, improving movement as well as resolving pain, stiffness, and weakness. Additional interventions include Acupuncture, taping, bracing, and education.

What does Physiotherapy address?

The most common issue treated with physiotherapy is pain. Physiotherapy also addresses postural issues, stiffness, weakness, and movement restriction. Physiotherapists are trained to see the body as a whole. This is the key to treating the issues (pain, stiffness, weakness) a client is currently experiencing. More importantly, it is the best way to prevent these issues from occurring again in the future. More often than not restriction, stiffness, weakness, and poor posture are directly related to the pain that someone is experiencing.

Is Physiotherapy safe?

Your Physiotherapist is properly trained in all techniques that will be used in assessment and treatment sessions, including manual therapy and acupuncture. Your Physiotherapist will never use an intervention that could be harmful.

What to expect

Physiotherapy treatment sessions consist of mostly manual therapy. This includes muscle and fascia release, massage, joint mobilizations, as well as other hands on treatments. An individualized exercise program is always a part of physical therapy treatment. Taping is commonly used to assist with physiotherapy. Acupuncture is an optional treatment technique that can be used if a client is interested.
