Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle and profound hands-on body therapy founded in Osteopathy. CST is a wonderfully relaxing approach to healing through touch. The therapist directly supports their clients’ ability to self-repair and find a natural balance by following the unwinding of the tissues. This therapy is suited for all ages and a wide range of acute to chronic conditions. Regular sessions support the maintenance of good health.

How is it performed? CST is done on a fully clothed body. The client will lie comfortably on the treatment table, and the Practitioner will place their hands on the client’s body to help regulate the central nervous system. When the central nervous system is relaxed and free of restrictions, the body is more easily able to return to its highest levels of health.

During a Mechanical CST session, the Practitioner will place their hands on the client, which allows them to “tune into” the craniosacral rhythm. The Practitioner then uses delicate manual techniques to release restrictions and relieve undue pressure on the brain, spinal cord, and all other tissues throughout the body. This is a more “direct” process than the biodynamic approach.

During a Biodynamic CST session, the Practitioner will place their hands on the client, which allows them to “tune into” the whole body. The Practitioner listens to the ways the tissues, fluids and potency within the body want to express themselves, and follows this as it unfolds. This is a more “indirect” process than the mechanical approach.

Craniosacral sessions (mechanical & biodynamic) are beneficial for acute, sub-acute and chronic pain. CST sessions are also well-suited for maintaining wellness and reducing stress.

When we have students available to offer sessions, we charge a low-cost fee to clients in order for them to have this learning experience.

Our 1st-year students are currently taking on new practice clients who are in good general health. Minor accidents and injuries are common for people with good health.

We ask that people with more serious conditions or who are on strong medications book in with either a 2nd-year student or a Registered Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist.

Our 2nd-year students are available to see practice clients who struggle with serious conditions such as concussions, motor vehicle accidents, fibromyalgia, Crohn’s disease, etc, so they can continue to build upon their experience. They can also see clients who are pregnant or have newborns (after they have completed Seminar 9).

Call the Clinic at 250-306-9283 to inquire about available Student Practitioners.
