Trauma Sensitive Yoga

Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga – TCTSY

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is a method of yoga developed, researched and found to be of great healing and benefit to survivors of complex trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Yoga classes that are trauma sensitive are slow and gentle, grounded in choice with a rhythm of engaging, integrating, and resting. You may notice that cues are offered invitationally and that you will be offered choices within and between forms.   Trauma-Sensitive yoga offers an opportunity for you to be in complete control of your body in the present moment. You are welcome to make choices and notice sensations in your body.  Group sessions (6 week series) or one on one sessions. There is a brief introductory meeting required either by video chat, phone or text before sessions begin.

Come as you are.

TCTSY uses Hatha Yoga forms as a way to access the body, functioning as a bottom-up approach to treating trauma. The emphasis is not on the external expression or appearance (i.e. doing it “right”), or receiving the approval of an external authority. Rather the focus is on the internal experience of the participant. With this approach, the power resides within the individual, not the TCTSY facilitator (TCTSY-F).  No physical assists are provided during a TCTSY session, there are no required physical props, and  no prior yoga experience is necessary. Find out more about TCTSY here.

Sacha is officially certified through the Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga 300-hour program based on protocol developed, studied, and empirically validated by the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute of Brookline, Massachusetts.

Free Consultation: 15-30-minute consultation to assess your needs is free of charge & required for the Trauma sensitive yoga sessions.

Yoga Therapy

Are you experiencing some symptoms or a health condition that needs some relief?

Yoga Therapy can help with chronic pain, neurological issues, musculoskeletal injuries, digestive issues, support for illnesses, respiratory disorders, skin disorders, burn-out, healthy aging and overall well-being.

Yoga therapy as the name implies, uses yoga techniques—postures, breathing exercises, and meditations to assist people towards a whole-person approach to healing. Depending on your needs, I will suggest specific breathing exercises, postures, and relaxation techniques.

A yoga therapy session starts with an initial assessment to figure out what your needs are. We’ll identify health problems, assess your lifestyle and physical abilities, and create a treatment plan just for you based on your own goals. When the treatment plan is established, the sessions can be scheduled based on frequency.

How is Yoga Therapy different from attending a Yoga class?

  • Public yoga classes can certainly ease everyday aches, pains, and mood complaints. Yoga therapy, however, goes deeper since it is tailored specifically to the client. In Yoga Therapy, individuals can address physical, mental, and emotional concerns in a one on one setting.
  • A client usually seeks out a yoga therapist not for yoga instruction, but to get relief from some symptoms or a health condition that is troubling them. Instead of teaching the techniques of yoga, the focus of Yoga Therapy is on how the yoga techniques can improve the client’s physical health and overall wellbeing.
  • A yoga therapist is a yoga teacher who has completed additional training (at least 2 years)

As a Yoga Therapist, Sacha is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists after graduating from The Yoga Therapy Institute with an 800-hour Yoga Therapy diploma.

Yoga Therapy Sessions (available in person or via Zoom):
