Kate Woodall – Art Therapist (BA)
I am an experienced dancer and visual artist. Expressive art is an inner journey and
one that takes courage. I am merely a witness, holding a safe space for others to
explore an expressive art journey. There is this inner knowing and if given a
chance, creativity will provide a wealth of healing. Only you know your body,
spirit and life story.
During my own personal healing journey, I discovered creativity as a therapeutic
process. This led to years of education to become an expressive art therapist. I have
a Criminology degree from Simon Fraser University. I have facilitated many
programs in prisons, addiction treatment centers, senior’s homes and hospitals. I
have specialized training, to facilitate expressive art therapy programs with seniors
with Dementia. I facilitated my own expressive art therapy program, “Young at
heART” for 2.5 years in the Geriatric Inpatient Mental Health Unit, at Rockyview
Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. I also facilitated several art therapy based programs
and recreation programs within seniors care homes. I also co-facilitated integrative
drum circles for 2 years in the Rockyview Hospital.
