The call is out to the Vernon Community to come and dance!
Have some fun, set your intentions and dance into a higher vibration!
Conscious dance allows us the opportunity to express ourselves in movement, in sound, in breathing along to music and amongst our spiritual community. Mostly we just show up on the dance floor to move and sound and breathe what comes up for us. And as best we can, we leave the stresses of what is going on in our lives at the door as we enter and are better able to process it and move forward when our dance is complete for the night and we step back out into the world.
Most people attribute the origins of our current conscious dance practices to Gabrielle Roth who founded 5 Rhythms in the 1970’s. While she brought her own creative process to the introduction of this movement, she recognized we all have the 5 rhythms in our bodies and they are there to be expressed in ways which are unique to each of us.
What started as 5 Rhythms has now also become Open Floor International, Soul Motion, Dance Temple, Azul and countless more. The ‘structure’ most often includes awakening the body parts and going through the elements of flow, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. Overriding this, we can always set an intention prior to the dance for better health, deeper relationships, more abundance, creative expression and the like. We can set individual sessions for the group to dance in heart space; shapeshifting into something we are not in normal reality like a wolf; or anything else that brings us more into personal power and creative expression.
While we are here in the physical, we are energy beings who manifest our best selves by being healthy, rooted, connected and in our personal power. Dance is one of the most funs ways to be more who we really are and leave behind all the stuff we are not, all that baggage from life’s cumulative traumas. It is not just for the active and athletic but for all ages and all levels of mobility. You can dance with fibromyalgia from a chair or lying on the ground. All are welcome and positively contribute to our conscious dance community.
90-minute sessions are lightly facilitated unless otherwise posted.
This is a drug and alcohol-free activity.
